It’s so easy to use HeirloomHunters! This “Frequently Asked Question” Guide will give you some helpful pointers if you’re just starting out. Remember, it’s FREE to join, list and sell your items, so you will not need to pay any kind of fees to sell your heirloom here.

You can start placing Ads, or arrange to buy items as soon as you have registered and logged in!

1. HOW DO I REGISTER?

The first step to using HeirloomHunters is to register/join. You can browse the website without needing to be registered, however, you will need to be logged in to place an Ad or to contact a seller about an Ad. To join, click on the “Register” button located in the top right-hand corner of the HeirloomHunters home page and complete the information required.

Once you have submitted your registration, an e-mail will be sent to your selected email address with your new password. You can update this password once you are logged in (Please refer to; “5. How to update your Ads and User Profile” below).

Please ensure you are familiar with the HeirloomHunters Terms of Use and Privacy Policy if you wish to use this website to buy and sell heirlooms.

2. HOW TO PLACE AN AD / LISTING?

To place an Ad, simply log in, and click on the “Post a Classified” button located just below the login box. This will open up a form to enable you to complete your listing information as well as insert any relevant images/photos. Be sure to complete all fields marked with a *, including the relevant category for your item.

Notes:

• Your listing will still allow an interested buyer to contact you via the “Contact Ad Owner” link, while keeping your e-mail address private.
• Please ensure that your e-mail address is one you actively use, as this is how the buyers will contact you.
• The maximum image size is 1MB for each photo or 2000×2000 pixels, if your photo(s) are larger than this, they will not upload correctly.
• You will need to manually enter in the answer to the simple math sum on the bottom of the page before you click “Post it” (This is a security feature to ensure the HeirloomHunters is not inundated with fake listings).

You will see a confirmation message stating “Your Ad has been Submitted Successfully” when the new listing is done. The item will appear in both the relevant category you selected, as well as the “Latest Listings” main page.

If for any reason you need to edit/update your listing – you can access your Ads within the “My Dashboard” screen (see notes below; “4. How to update your Ads and User Profile”). For any other help, please contact us.

3. WHY SHOULD I POST AN AD ON HEIRLOOMHUNTERS?

First, Heirloomhunters is free (FREE4ALL). Second, this site is as much a fun informational and ancestral site for others as it is a site to sell your heirlooms. Hence, since Heirloomhunters is more personal, people will pay more for an item. We believe the thrill of the hunt and the excitement of finding past family heirlooms will be truly rewarding to all!

We have created a site that is so much more personal than general auction and classifieds sites, so…have fun! This is truly an opportunity to connect others with invaluable heirlooms while all involved can enjoy the rewards of your efforts! Again, have fun and thank you.

4. WHAT IS THE EASIEST WAY TO SEARCH FOR HEIRLOOMS?

Search by name, school, year, initials etc. The search engine will find any of the keywords you input. Please note that older documents may have been hard for others to read the spellings of a name. Hence, you may want to try and minimize the words in a search to start. For example, use the first name and graduation date or school rather than a difficult or long last name that a seller may not have read properly.

5. HOW DO I BUY / ASK ABOUT ITEMS FOR SALE?

If you are interested in a particular item listed on HeirloomHunters, there are 3 ways which you can get in contact with the seller;

1. Within the Ad information screen, the seller may have listed a contact phone number which you can use.
2. You can submit a comment on any Ad by scrolling to the bottom of the Ad page. Here you can type your comment/question into the text box and then click on the “submit comment” button. The seller will be notified of any comments placed on their Ad. Please note, you will need to be logged in to be able to do this.
3. You can send an e-mail to the seller by clicking on the “Contact Ad Owner” link located in the right-hand side column. This will open up a standard form for you to complete, which will be e-mailed to the seller. Please note, you need to be logged in to be able to do this.

All arrangements to purchase the item(s) are made between the buyer and the seller directly. Please refer to HeirloomHunters Terms of Use for further details.

Notes:

• Unless stated as otherwise by the seller, the items listed on HeirloomHunters should be assumed to be pre-loved items.
• Unless stated as otherwise by the seller, it should be assumed that postage/delivery costs are separate to the asking price of any item listed for sale and are payable by the buyer.

6. HOW DO I UPDATE MY ADS AND USER PROFILE?

When you are a registered user, you can access the “My Profile” and ”My Dashboard” pages which are found via links in the top right-hand corner of the screen next to your username. Here you can access the following features:

• My Profile – is where you can update your password and other information for other members to see.
• To update your password, from within the “My Profile” link, scroll down your profile page until you get to the “New Password” and “Password Again” fields. Complete these and then click the “Update Profile” button.
• My Dashboard - shows a list of all of your heirloomhunters Ads where you can edit, or pause/restart your Ads.
• Currently, as there isn’t a feedback system in place, could we please ask that if you have sold an item listed, that you change the header of the ad to say *SOLD* instead of pausing the ad. Thank you.

When another member clicks on your username within any of the Ads you have listed, they can see your profile photo (if any), and a list of your other Ads.

7. HOW DO I REPORT AN AD / USER?

If you wish to report any Ad you see here on HeirloomHunters, please open the relevant item from the Classifieds list, and click on the “Report” button found within the listing details. This will notify HeirloomHunters admin to check it out. Any inappropriate or offensive listings will be deleted upon further investigation.

Should you have any issues with another member in relation to a negative trade experience, please contact us. Complaints will be taken seriously and members will be banned if found to be detrimental to this community.

8. I AM ALREADY SELLING AT OTHER AUCTION-CLASSIFIED SITES, WHY SHOULD I SELL HERE?

Because you can do both at the same time (yippy)! Since you are not obligated to make a sale etc. at Heirloomhunters, you can simply list it for others to enjoy. If it sells (for likely more money than on the other auction-classified sites because it is more personal), you can simply leave it as a show-and-tell for others to reference and continue to enjoy (your generosity will be appreciated by others).
