Interesting old piece of ephemera related to the trade and sale of horses dated March 24, 1891 from Lane Branch, NC. The very sincere letter reads (to the best of my ability to decipher the text… “Mr. D.W. Maser, Dear Sir, yours of 21st first to hand. This reply will say if your horse is a good saddle and harness horse I think we can trade if we can get together. I have three, or mare, choices to trade right here for good farm stock, but they do not suit me to ride and drive. I will let a man try my mare to his satisfaction. I like your horse’s appearance and sixe very well. My business is so that I can’t come to Liberty at present. And to set a day to meet you would be very uncertain as you know. So you come to my house the first opportunity and I think we will trade. Would be pleased to have you stay all night. Make your arrangements so that you will not be complelled to go back the same day. I will be at home or near by any day. Hoping to see you soon. Respectfully, W.R. Galey (Haley, Saley).” Size is approx 8 inches by 12.25 inches and is in good condition. Shipping and handling will be an additional $3. Paypal, money order and personal check happily accepted. If you purchase this heirloom, I ask that you allow me the privilege to leave this posted in the Show-and-Tell posting section (not-4-sale) for others to reference and enjoy. Thank you very much!
